Dana Miller, Owner

From as far back as I can remember, I have been around antiques.

Growing up in Western Nebraska, the Scottsbluff/Gering area specifically, I remember being with my parents, searching for antiques. We visited every flea market and estate sale in the area–antiques were in my blood. Watching and learning as my Dad fixed and repaired old furniture and provided appraisals on items folks brought to him afforded me the opportunity to understand the history of items. I was also introduced to the pleasure of seeing the look on people’s faces when that forgotten memory returns. I knew from a young age that my future was certain to involve antiques.

From a humble start in 1975, I first opened Forgotten Memories Antiques. I sold antiques, refurbished furniture and provided appraisals. The older building I occupied was on 1600 1st Avenue in Scottsbluff, NE. I recall it had no lights in the back room. If I wanted to get anything done, I made sure it was during the daytime. After modest success in my first 2 years, and a desire for that newfangled backroom lighting that other stores had, I decided it was time for a move.

The following 14 years, 1977-1991, brought good fortune as America’s love for items from the yesteryear began to blossom. My new store location was at 525 East Overland in Scottsbluff, NE. During my time at this location, I also opened up a gift store in 1989, Dana’s Gifts, located in the Monument Mall, also in Scottsbluff. Times were good. Folks knew that if I did not have what you were looking for, there was a great chance I could locate it for you.

With a growing trend of Antique Malls moving through the Midwest, in 1991 I moved Forgotten Memories to 1012 West 36th Street in Scottsbluff, NE. and operated as Forgotten Memories Antique Mall. I provided folks access to my antique store as well as selling others’ antiques by consignment for the next 5 years. I also continued refurbishing antique furniture, providing appraisals and connecting customers to desired items.

In 1996, I moved to my current location just outside of Scottsbluff, at 210 Five Rocks Rd. in Gering, NE. It is here where 45+ years have come together. While I don’t fix furniture or provide appraisal services anymore, I do bring antiques and customers back together. I truly enjoy the conversations that antiques spark and sharing my vast knowledge I’ve collected over the years. So please stop in and share what you are looking for or maybe start a new collection with an item that catches your eye. With over ten thousand square feet holding many thousands of antiques, you are certain to connect with your forgotten memory.
